About Certified Naturally Grown
The difference between Certified Organic and Certified Naturally Grown: Cost and Inspection.
To become Certified Organic, it costs about $800, whether a farmer has 1 acre or 100 acres, plus 1/2 per cent of their yearly gross sales. Inspections are done annually by a representative from a certifying agency at a cost of about $350 per visit.
With Certified Naturally Grown, qualified members pay a flat $110 fee per year. Inspections are done yearly by another CNG farmer or a local county extension agent. The farm that inspects our farm cannot be a farm that we have inspected. CNG Farms follow the same rules as Certified Organic farms.
